They rock out in videos, steal the spotlight on the red carpet and seem to make even a trip to the gas station look like a study in Glam 101.

The pop star styles of...

 Lady Gaga

Nicki Minaj

Britney Spears

Rihanna

Katy Perry

These pretty ladies seem to make everything from cut-offs to couture look crazy cool. We love their creativity -- but sealing ourselves up in a giant egg

Or dressing in head-to-toe straight-from-the-runway leopard Givenchy

Or flesh-colored body suits

Or even sheer Gaultier gowns

Or whipped cream bras definitely doesn't work in the real world

However, there are lessons to be learned from these fashion risk-takers. For a few pointers, top stylists Mia Morgan (Beyoncé) and Joey Tierney (Britney Spears, Pussycat Dolls) share advice on standing out -- but not getting unwanted attention.Forget the meat dress, but do borrow from Gaga: "Lady Gaga's looks are pure artistic expression

[hello meat dress], very avant garde and fashion-forward," Morgan tells StyleList. "But certain aspects can be borrowed to bring a sense of that to your own look, like her love of big-shouldered jackets, statement shoes and dramatic sunglasses."

Wave your hands in the air: "The fashion item that I think screams 'I'm a pop star' is definitely hand gloves," Tierney tells StyleList. "They're effortlessly cool."

Don't try to recreate your favorite video: "Pop stars and their stylists create a fantasy world when they put together the looks for a video," says Morgan.

"But you can easily take elements from these looks and wear them in real life.

Add a cool pair of shades or funky accessories, but please don't walk down the street in your underwear because you saw someone rock that look on the red carpet."

Study your Rihanna: "It's thrilling to see what she's going to do next," says Tierney.

"She has a very sexy body and knows how to emphasize that in just the right way. Beyonce is also great at knowing how to pump up her sex appeal by wearing body-hugging styles."

Morgan agrees: "If you are going to wear a tight dress and you're over 30, make sure it's not too short.

Look for more tasteful fabrics. Draw attention to your neckline with a bold necklace or embellishment around the decolletage but don't have your lingerie hanging out."

Push 'em up: "The pop star-worthy items that can be translated to a real woman's wardrobe are bustiers,"

Tierney says. "Throw a blazer over them and you have a great look that isn't over the top."'

Abandon any wallflower ways: "Think big and bold -- fur coats, studded boots, super high heels, big shoulders and color -- bright, dramatic and sexy," Morgan advises.

"Adding just the right touch of glamour to any outfit, like a fantastic necklace on a T-shirt and jeans, can transform anyone into a pop star.

Pop stars love sexy high heels so getting a cool pair of studded Christian Louboutins adds a huge impact to a simple dress or suit."

Break out the bling: "Showy pieces that draw attention are pop star favorites," Morgan says. "Embellishing with rhinestones, sequins, feathers or studs adds shine, movement and sparkle -- and make the wearer stand out in a crowd."

Bright lights, bright colors: "For someone trying to look like Beyonce or Nicki Minaj, I recommend they wear a pop of color," Tierney says. "Try pairing a bright high-waisted trouser with a one-shoulder fitted top."

Now, start shopping: "Pop Stars love the more funky and sexy labels," Morgan says. "Dolce & Gabbana is a big favorite. Others to look to include Roberto Cavalli, Alexander McQueen, Gaultier, Balenciaga and Balmain. Richie Rich has a new line named Villionare which is very pop. I am also a big fan of fast fashion retailers like H&M, Topshop and Dots. I always find inexpensive funky jewelry at JC Penney."
